The Iraqi Embassy in Russia will organize an evacuation flight for the citizens of the country stuck in Belarus on August 10, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic to the Russian Federation Abdel Rahman al-Hasani said on Saturday. Iraqi Airlines on Thursday announced the suspension of flights to Minsk for a week. Almost 40 illegal migrants were detained at the Latvian-Belarusian border “The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Russia announces that Iraqi Airlines will organize an evacuation flight for Iraqi citizens stuck in Belarus on Tuesday on August 10,” the head of the Iraqi diplomatic mission wrote on Twitter. Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmad al-Sahhaf said on Wednesday that the country's embassy in Moscow is closely monitoring the situation around the murder of an Iraqi citizen on the border of Belarus and Lithuania, and urges Iraqis not to become victims of illegal migration networks. Lithuania has recently announced an increase in the number of detainees illegal migrants on the border with Belarus, in this regard, the country's authorities declared an extreme situation on July 2. According to the latest data, more than 4 thousand illegal migrants have been detained in Lithuania on the border with Belarus since the beginning of the year. In turn, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Minsk will no longer restrain illegal migrants to the EU countries – because of the West's sanctions, there is “neither money nor strength for this.” Lukashenka instructs security officials to close borders The border guards of Belarus have repeatedly stated about the forcible expulsion of migrants by Lithuania to the adjacent territory, while many of them, mostly Iraqi citizens, were injured. On August 4, the official representative of the State Border Committee of Belarus Anton Bychkovsky told RIA Novosti that at night a migrant in a serious physical condition was found on the border with Lithuania, who later died. The deceased was an Iraqi citizen. Investigative Committee of Belarus opened a criminal case under the article “murder.” After that, on behalf of Lukashenko, the protection of the state border of the republic was strengthened, additional forces were deployed to the most significant areas. As Lukashenka noted, the Belarusian population should feel calm in the situation of expulsion of illegal immigrants by neighboring countries through official checkpoints.
