Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins called the increase in the flow of illegal migrants who are trying to get into Latvia and Lithuania from Belarus, «an exacerbation of the hybrid war against the EU» and promised that Riga will act decisively. The Latvian government has declared a state of emergency on the border since August 11 with Belarus due to a sharp increase in the number of illegal migrants who are trying to get into the country. Servicemen of the National Armed Forces were brought in to help the border guards.
