The Moscow City Court has reduced the suspended sentence of leftist politician Nikolai Platoshkin from five years to four years and nine months in the case of incitement to mass riots (part 1.1 of article 212 of the Criminal Code) and fakes (article 207 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by the press service of the court.
According to SOTA, the court counted the time that Platoshkin spent under house arrest. Also, the politician reduced the amount of the fine by 200 thousand rubles – instead of 700 thousand rubles, he will be obliged to pay half a million rubles, the press service specified.

The politician was detained and placed under house arrest in June 2020. According to the investigation, in the videos on his YouTube channel, he urged viewers to participate in protests and violate the requirements for self-isolation imposed by the coronavirus. The politician pleaded not guilty.
In May 2021, the Gagarinsky Court of Moscow sentenced Platoshkin to five years probation and imposed a fine of 700 thousand rubles. The prosecutor's office then demanded to appoint the politician six years in prison.

Now the Platoshkin channel has more than 600 thousand subscribers, at the time of the arrest there were 475 thousand of them. In his videos, he opposed the amendments to the Constitution, proposed to go to protest actions without violating quarantine bans, and called for observers to vote. The blogger also promised to hold rallies in Moscow after the pandemic for the resignation of President Vladimir Putin and the government.
