The Moscow court recovered almost 8 billion rubles from Alfa-Bank in the case of ex-minister Abyzov

The Gagarinsky District Court of Moscow recovered from Alfa-Bank $ 30.8 million and 5.8 billion rubles in the case of ex-minister of the open government Mikhail Abyzov. The former minister himself was ordered to pay $ 22 million, Kommersant reports, citing the court's press service.

The Prosecutor General's Office demanded to collect $ 104.5 million from the bank.

According to the investigation, part of the money raised from fraudulent transactions, Abyzov invested in the blockchain project Telegram, but the deal did not take place. Then the convict made an agreement with Alfa-Bank and transferred the money there. The lawsuit said that the actions of the ex-minister and Alfa-Bank were “anti-social, and their agreements were insignificant.”

Abyzov was sent to a pre-trial detention center in the spring of 2019, he was accused of creating a criminal community (parts 2 and 3 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code) and fraud (part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code). According to the investigation, he and his accomplices deceived the shareholders of the Siberian Energy Company and Regional Electric Networks OJSC for 4 billion rubles and brought them abroad.

In July last year, the Investigative Committee announced Abyzov's involvement in money laundering cases (part 4 of article 174.1 of the Criminal Code) and commercial bribery (article 204 of the Criminal Code). In October, 32.5 billion rubles were withdrawn from him as state revenue.
