MOSCOW, 15 Sep. Speakers of the House of Lords and Commons have banned Chinese Ambassador Zhen Jieguang from appearing in the British Parliament building, writes The Guardian, noting that they made such a decision in response to the sanctions imposed by Beijing. The diplomat was scheduled to meet with representatives of parties sympathetic to China. The head of the lower house Lindsay Hoyle said that the ban on visits to the building will remain in force as long as the restrictions remain in force, according to the material. His colleague in the House of Lords John McFell added that this action does not mean the end of joint events with the ambassador, but they should take place in other places. The Chinese Embassy in London called such a move by Parliament «a sneaky and cowardly act,» writes The Guardian. It stressed that the sanctions against British politicians are a retaliatory measure following restrictions on Chinese officials on charges of violating Uyghur rights.
