MOSCOW, 15 Sep. Almost 250 international observers from 55 countries will take part in the elections to the State Duma, said CEC Chairwoman Ella Pamfilova.
«At this point, according to preliminary data (this is not the final results of registration), 249 international observers from 55 countries have confirmed their participation,» Pamfilova told Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
She stressed that all registered have the status of a public observer. According to Pamfilova, international observation is important, but the most important thing is the trust of Russians. The State Duma is elected for a five-year term under a mixed electoral system: 225 deputies are elected from party lists, another 225 — from single-mandate constituencies in one round.
