MOSCOW, 17 Sep. Deputy Chairman of the German Green Party Oliver Krischer called ways to prevent the launch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Reported by the Tageszeitung. The politician is concerned that the project will receive permission to operate under the current government — that is, before the elections to the Bundestag on September 26. According to Krisher, if Nord Stream 2 starts working under the current authorities, its shutdown will lead to claims for damages. Therefore, the Greens are trying to postpone the commissioning of the gas pipeline until they themselves find themselves in the government. The work permit for Nord Stream 2 is to be issued by the Federal Grid Agency. In addition to certification of the pipeline, the agency must also consider an application for recognition of Nord Stream 2 AG as an independent operator, which will circumvent the EU Gas Directive. The Kremlin commented on the rise in gas prices in Europe In accordance with the recent German-American agreement, financial assistance for the development of «green» technologies in the energy sector should become compensation for Kiev from the possible loss of the role of transit fuel to Europe. According to lawyer Cornelia Zim, who is collaborating with the German Environmental Organization in a lawsuit to revoke a permit to build a gas pipeline, the Network Agency should assess whether the long-term transformation of Ukraine's energy sector can ensure its security in the short term. The article notes that the Federal Network Agency may drag out the preparation of the draft decision for four months, after which it will have to be evaluated by the European Commission. According to some reports, the decision on certification of the gas pipeline may be made in May next year. In Germany, they named three obstacles to the launch of Nord Stream 2 In addition, the German Environmental Organization has filed two more lawsuits: one challenges the permission issued by the Stralsund mining department for the construction and operation of Nord Stream 2. It will be considered on November 16 in Greifswald. A second similar claim has been filed with the Federal Office of Maritime Shipping and Hydrography. Nord Stream 2 is a gas pipeline from Russia to Germany with a capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year. The last pipe of the second line was sunk to the bottom of the Baltic Sea this week. The chairman of the state corporation «Gazprom» Alexey Miller said that the company will start the fuel through the pipeline already this heating season.
