MOSCOW, 16 Sep. The IAEA expects the use of nuclear energy to double by 2050. According to the organization, such conclusions are based on the idea of a significant increase in electricity production over the next three decades, followed by growth in nuclear power. «New IAEA forecasts show. that nuclear power will continue to play an integral role in low-carbon energy production. The research findings are an encouraging sign of the growing awareness that carbon-free nuclear power is vital to our efforts to achieve zero emissions, «said IAEA CEO Rafael Grossi The IAEA predicts that the share of nuclear energy in global electricity production will rise to 12% by 2050. At the same time, the alternative forecast assumes that the use of nuclear energy by 2050 will remain at 392 gigawatts, which is 6% of the total energy production.
