MOSCOW, Sep 19. The beginning of autumn and a cold snap suggest that it is time to think about choosing winter tires for a car. Konstantin Yepaneshnikov, Director of Service and Spare Parts of Avilon Volkswagen, told the Prime agency how to do it correctly and not overpay. “You should not experiment and, for example, install inflated, lowered, narrowed wheels, as this affects operation and safety. In no case should we forget that the tire is the only part that connects the car to the roadway. And the tire contact patch — a very responsible area, therefore, the selection and purchase of winter tires must be approached very carefully. » — the expert pointed out. The type of winter tires is also different — they are studded and non-studded. Each type has its pros and cons, and the decision which one to choose depends on the way and place of the car's use. Studded tires behave better on off-road, snow, ice, but on open asphalt it can slip due to poor grip. Non-studded rubber is better suited for the city — it makes less noise when driving on asphalt, but has a shorter braking distance. In other words, you should pay attention not to the price, but to the quality characteristics, the expert concluded. Russia wants to toughen the rules for the use of studded tires
