President Vladimir Putin signed a decree appointing former State Duma deputy and ex-Crimean prosecutor Natalia Poklonskaya as Russia's ambassador to Cape Verde. The document was published on the official portal of legal information.
“I have achieved this appointment. I studied and study and am very happy with this assignment. If someone thinks that the appointment of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia, a great country, somewhere is a link, then for me it is strange. This is some kind of perverted taste, ”Poklonskaya emphasized in a conversation with RBC.
At the end of August, RBC, citing sources, wrote that Poklonskaya was planned to be appointed ambassador to Cape Verde. The interlocutors explained this by the unwillingness of the authorities to see the former prosecutor in the new composition of the State Duma because of her “not quite systemic behavior and extravagant statements.” At the same time, according to sources, “work in the diplomatic field was the wish of Poklonskaya herself.”

In 2017, Poklonskaya, being a State Duma deputy, actively opposed the screening of the film Matilda, which told the story of the relationship between Emperor Nicholas II and the ballerina Matilda Kshesinskaya. After the release of the film, Poklonskaya publicly rebuked Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika for putting “the interests of his family, successful children” above the “honor of the country, its first person” and “historical truth.” In 2015, politician Alexei Navalny spoke about the family of the Prosecutor General and the business of his two sons.
