Erdogan urged to expel ambassadors of ten countries from Turkey, who spoke for the release of human rights defender Kavala

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan instructed the country's Foreign Ministry to declare the ambassadors of the United States, Canada, France, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Norway persona non grata. RIA Novosti writes about it.

“I instructed our Foreign Minister to immediately take measures to ensure that these 10 ambassadors were declared persona non grata,” Erdogan said.

The reason for this was a call to release human rights activist Osman Kavala – diplomats demanded this this week. After that, the ambassadors were summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, stating the need to comply with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

Kavala is accused of involvement in a coup attempt in July 2016 by FETO, an organization of Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen. The latter is accused of organizing this coup.
