MOSCOW, Dec 5 Russian grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi lost to world champion Norwegian Magnus Carlsen in the eighth game of the match for the world chess crown, held in Dubai. The non-recalling played with black pieces, the game ended on the 46th move. The score in the confrontation was 5-3 in favor of the Norwegian. Nepomniachtchi was defeated on Friday, six more games ended in a draw. The ninth game will take place on Tuesday with a day off on Monday. Nepomniachtchi won the title match against Carlsen by winning the Candidates Tournament in Yekaterinburg in April. The match for the world crown consists of 14 classical chess games. In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided in a tie-break. The prize money for the World Championship match is 2 million euros.
