& # 34; EU leaders have unanimously agreed to extend economic sanctions against Russia & # 34; – he said on Twitter.

According to Michel, European leaders also called on Russia “to proceed to the implementation of the Minsk agreements. “The economic sanctions of the European Union, which have been in effect for more than seven years, are directed against the financial, energy and defense sectors in Russia. In particular, for a number of Russian banks and companies, access to the primary and secondary capital markets of the EU is limited, a ban has been introduced on the import and export of weapons and dual-use goods. In addition, the EU restricted Russia's access to a number of technologies and services for oil production and exploration, which were originally imposed at the end of July 2014 for a period of one year. In March 2015, the duration of the sanctions was linked to the “full implementation of the Minsk agreements.” From now on, the restrictions are extended every six months. Before the decision to extend the sanctions, the EU countries are assessing the implementation of the Minsk agreements. The next extension of the sanctions is expected at the end of January 2022. Moscow has retaliated, embarked on a course of import substitution and has repeatedly stated that talking to it in the language of sanctions is counterproductive. Russia has also repeatedly indicated that it is not a party to the conflict in Ukraine and a subject of the Minsk settlement agreements.
