Vasilevsky broke the NHL record of 12 years


MOSCOW, Dec 17 Russian goalkeeper of Tampa Bay Lightning Andrey Vasilevsky set a new National Hockey League (NHL) record for wins in a single calendar year, according to an NHL Twitter account. Tampa beat Ottawa 2-1 on Thursday. This victory was 63rd for Vasilevsky in 2021 in the regular championships and playoffs combined. Thus, the 27-year-old Russian surpassed the achievement of the Canadian goalkeeper Marc-Andre Fleury, who won 62 wins in 2009, playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins. In total, this season Vasilevsky played 23 matches, in which he won 16 wins, of which two matches defended “to zero”.
