The Governor of the Penza Region, Oleg Melnichenko, paid a bonus to Vice Governor Sergei Fedotov for refusing a bribe of 3 million rubles. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the regional government.

The amount of the award was 47.2 thousand rubles. Fedotov was awarded in accordance with the law of the Penza region “On the salary of civil servants of the Penza region and persons holding public office in the Penza region”, added the press service. They said that Fedotov transferred the prize to the Rusfond charity fund to help seriously ill children, orphans and disabled people.

As reported by the investigators, on December 16, 2021, an employee of the Kamensky district administration decided to buy the post of head of the regional administration and tried to transfer three million rubles to Vice-Governor Fedotov in the regional government , but he refused and helped to “stop” the crime. The Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region opened a criminal case on attempted bribe-giving to an official (part 3 of article 30, part 5 of article 291 of the Criminal Code), an employee of the administration was sent under house arrest.
