MEXICO, Jan 2 Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henri survived an assassination attempt during Independence Day celebrations , reported the VTV channel.
& # 34; Shooting occurred in the cathedral of the city of Gonaives, as a result of which at least one person was killed and several were injured. The Haitian Prime Minister was not injured & # 34; — the channel's website says.
According to local media reports, an armed gang operating in the area warned the head of government against visiting Gonaives. After the assassination attempt, the authorities canceled other events planned to celebrate Independence Day Haiti from France, proclaimed on January 1, 1804.The government and security crisis that Haiti has experienced in recent years was aggravated in the summer of 2021 with the assassination of President Jovenel Moise on July 7.
