It is planned that the constitutional referendum in Belarus will take place in the second half of February 2022. A draft constitutional amendment prepared by a specially created commission and a working group was published for public comment at the end of December. The specific date for the nationwide discussion of the draft of the new constitution of Belarus was not named earlier: the authorities noted that everything would depend on the activity of citizens. Belarusians can send their proposals on the document to any state bodies.

The KGB of Belarus in February 2021 said that the manifestations of protests had practically disappeared. In Belarus, criminal cases have been initiated against a number of opposition leaders, including calls for the seizure of power, the creation of an extremist group, a conspiracy to seize state power by unconstitutional means, an attempted terrorist attack.
