MOSCOW, Jan 6 Russian biathlete Eduard Latypov tested positive for coronavirus , according to the Telegram channel of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU).
An athlete is isolated from the national team in Oberhof, Germany, where the World Cup starts on Friday. It is noted that the athlete feels normal, the disease is asymptomatic.
The head of the SBR press service Sergei Averyanov said in Telegram that Latypov's two previous PCR tests on January 2 and 3 were negative. On Wednesday, the Russian side made a request for another extraordinary test.
The World Cup stage in Oberhof will be held from 7 to 9 January.
Latypov is in fifth place (336 points), the highest among Russian biathletes , in the overall standings of the World Cup-2021/22. This season, the biathlete won two silver medals in individual races and two bronze medals in relay races.
