The Investigative Committee (IC) for the Tyumen Region opened a criminal case after the death of nine people from the use of an unlicensed alcohol-containing liquid. This was reported by the press service of the UK.

According to the investigation, several people on New Year's holidays sold unlicensed alcohol-containing liquid with a vodka label “Springs of Siberia” in Tyumen. It contained methyl alcohol. The shops in which Rodniki Sibiri were sold were located on the streets of Stavropolskaya and Rizhskaya.
After ingestion of the liquid, nine people died. Investigative Committee identified and detained four suspects — they are from 29 to 50 years old.
“The necessary procedural actions are being carried out with their participation. Currently, the scene of the incident has been examined, as well as searches at the place of residence of suspects and victims, investigators of the TFR are questioning witnesses, and the necessary examinations have been appointed, ”the department said.
Criminal case on the sale of products that do not meet safety requirements the life or health of consumers, which inadvertently entailed the death of two or more people (part 3 of article 238 of the Criminal Code) is under the control of the head of the IC for the region. The punishment under this article is up to 10 years in prison.
