Geneva. Archive photo MOSCOW/GENEVA, Jan. 9 Representatives of the Russian side arrived in Geneva for talks with the United States on security guarantees. Russian-American talks on security guarantees, «the ministry's Telegram channel said. The first dinner-format meeting is scheduled for Sunday evening. These are «preliminary» negotiations. The main part of the discussions will take place on Monday, in a closed format, on the territory of the US Permanent Mission to the UN Office in Geneva. The American delegation will be led by First Under Secretary of State Wendy Sherman. After consultations, a meeting of the NATO-Russia Council will take place in Brussels, and in Vienna — consultations at the Organization for Security and cooperation in Europe. At the end of 2021, Russia published draft agreements with the United States and agreements with NATO on security guarantees. Moscow, in particular, demands from its Western partners legal guarantees against further expansion of NATO to the east, from joining the Ukrainian bloc and from creating military bases in post-Soviet countries.
