MOSCOW, Jan 11 Kontinental Hockey League matches canceled due to COVID-19 outbreaks in clubs will be approved after the 23rd January, when the championship goes into an Olympic hiatus, according to the official website of the KHL. The KHL invited clubs to change the playoff schedule, freeing up days for canceled regular season matches. At the same time, the league agreed with the Russian Ice Hockey Federation on the possibility of holding matches during the Olympics at the mutual desire of the clubs. In the event that most matches are played during the Olympic break, the KHL will consider maintaining a full playoff. 14 KHL matches have been canceled since early 2022. The league worked out several options for ending the regular season, but in order not to violate the sports principle, it decided to stop at the full completion of the regular season.
