NATO Headquarters in Brussels WASHINGTON, Jan 11 First Under Secretary of State Wendy Sherman discussed with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, scheduled for Wednesday talks with Russia and briefed all allies in the alliance about the Russian-American meeting in Geneva, said US Ambassador to NATO Julianne Smith. Stoltenberg and Sherman, she said, reaffirmed a shared commitment to dialogue and diplomacy, and called on Russia to take concrete steps towards de-escalation. Sherman later also told representatives of all NATO member states about the results of the Geneva meeting in the format of the Russian-American dialogue on strategic stability. On Wednesday, a discussion of European security issues is scheduled at the site of the Russian-NATO Council.
