A court in the Kirov region released on parole 29-year-old ex-FSB officer Ilya Kirsanov, convicted of raping St. Petersburg businessman Igor Salikov with a carbine, on parole. Fontanka reports this.

In September 2021, the Kirovo-Chepetsky District Court of the Kirov Region replaced Kirsanov's unserved term with a year and ten months of restriction of freedom. The mitigation of punishment for the ex-FSB officer was motivated by positive references from the correctional colony, an “active position on correction” and an admission of guilt. The injured businessman Salikov appealed against the court decision, the prosecutor's office conducted an audit, after which in December he again introduced Kirsanov to parole.
