The Stasi transmitted some messages about Scholz to the KGB of the USSR. For example, the report «Evaluation of the Federal Congress of Young Socialists» prepared in 1982 by Vandom, where Scholz was mentioned, went to Moscow. These documents have not been preserved in Germany, but, as the newspaper notes, they could have been preserved in Russia. The very practice of passing on such information was «not uncommon,» Muenkel explained. «In the USSR there was great interest in the political situation and the political alignment in the Federal Republic — this also applied to young socialists,» she explained.
