Russian skeletonists have won the maximum quota for the Olympic Games


MOSCOW, Jan 14 Russian skeletonists have won the maximum possible three licenses for the Olympic Games in Beijing. On January 14, the Olympic qualifying round ended with the World Cup in St. Moritz (Switzerland). In the overall standings of the World Cup for women, Russian Elena Nikitina scored 1458 points and took third place, Yulia Kanakina (1290) — fifth, and Alina Tararychenkova (1202) became seventh. The victory in the general classification was won by Kimberley Bos from the Netherlands (1600). Russian skeletonists had previously secured the maximum representation in Beijing. To get to Beijing, the athletes had to compete in six different competitions under the auspices of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) on three different tracks , as well as being in the top 45 in the season rankings.
