Scientists warn about the negative consequences of booster vaccination

Countries are encouraged to leave more time between boosters.

Frequent boosters vaccines against Covid-19 can negatively affect the immune response and tire people this will eventually weaken the immune response in the population.

Instead, countries are advised to leave more time between booster programs and tie them to the onset of the cold season in each hemisphere, similar to influenza vaccination.

According to the publication, some countries are now considering offering repeated boosters to the population vaccinations to protect people against the new, more contagious strain of «omicron».

Earlier, Israel became the first country in the world to introduce a second booster dose to people over 60 years of age. The UK has stated that boosters provide a high level of protection and there is currently no need for a second revaccination.

Boosters «can be done once or maybe twice, but we don't think this is should be repeated constantly», Marco Cavaleri, EMA's head of biological health hazards and vaccine strategy, said at a briefing.

«We need to think about how we can move from the current conditions of the pandemic to more endemic conditions,” Cavaleri noted.

The EMA also said that oral and intravenous antivirals such as remdesivir and paxlovid remain effective against the new variant «omicron&#187 ;.

Note that the EU medical regulator recommends doing the first booster vaccination, we are talking about repeating the booster.

Recall that in Ukraine on January 6, a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine was allowed for all citizens who are over 18 years of age. The optimal revaccination period is from 6 to 9 months after the completion of the primary vaccination course, regardless of which vaccine the person was vaccinated with.
