The hackers are accused of illegal circulation of means of payment (part 2 of article 187 of the Criminal Code).
The special service carried out an operation to detain after the appeal of the US authorities. The FSB said that the US authorities informed Russia «about the leader of the criminal community and his involvement in encroachments on the information resources of foreign high-tech companies,» Interfax writes.
The security forces seized 426 million rubles, including cryptocurrency, from 14 hackers , 600 thousand dollars, 500 thousand euros, 20 premium cars, equipment and crypto wallets.
The names of the detainees were not released.
In November, the US Department of the Treasury added to the sanctions list ok 28-year-old Russian Evgeny Polyanin and 22-year-old Ukrainian Yaroslav Vasinsky, they are considered hackers of the REvil group. Polyanin and Vasinsky are charged with cyber-hacking and conspiracy to commit cyber-hacking and money laundering.
US Attorney General Merrick Garland said that Polyanin alone was able to get $13 million from the victims.
