UN, Jan 14 Employment rates in Russia are back to pre-pandemic levels, and in Latin America so far «dangerously high» unemployment, according to a report by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. The document indicates that in Latin America and the Caribbean, unemployment remains dangerously high, often in the double digits.
" In the third quarter of 2021, unemployment in South Africa reached 34.9 percent, the highest in the world. By comparison, employment in the Russian Federation is almost back to its pre-pandemic levels, with unemployment rates below 5 percent since early 2021,” the report notes.
Unemployment in China has declined since early 2020, according to UN data and returned to pre-pandemic levels by mid-2021. According to the forecasts of the authors of the report, the growth of Russia's gross domestic product in 2022 will be 2.7 percent, and in 2023 — 2.3 percent. It is noted that consumer price inflation was 6.4 percent in 2021. In 2022 and 2023, it will be 3.2 percent.
