Media: Novak Djokovic again sent to immigration detention

MOSCOW, Jan 15 World number one Serb Novak Djokovic, whose Australian visa re-annulled, again arrived at the immigration detention center in Melbourne, Reuters reports. It is noted that now there are 33 people in the hotel, including applicants for refugee status and quarantined tourists. On Saturday, a procedural session of the court took place, during which Judge David O'Callaghan announced that the main session, as planned, would take place on Sunday. He noted that the hearings will begin at 09.30 local time (01.30 Moscow time), and representatives of Djokovic and the Australian government must submit written arguments to the court the day before. The tennis player's lawyers filed an appeal to re-annul his visa. Djokovic arrived in Australia to participate in the Australian Open on January 5. The next day, he was placed in an immigration detention center, as the authorities were not convinced of the reasons for the athlete's medical withdrawal from the coronavirus vaccination. Four days later, Djokovic was released from detention by court order, but on Friday, Australian Immigration Minister Alex Hawke decided to re-revoke the athlete's visa «in the public interest.»
