Where food prices go when «food stamps» and whether government regulation will help cut the check at the checkout.
Food prices are risingand this is far from the limit. Food is unlikely to become cheaper — this is a global trend, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to TSN.
At grocery shelves, buyers are choosing goods more and more carefully, how much no one costs anymore trying to remember. Price tags jump up almost every day. Product inflation eats up money in wallets.
Economist Oleg Pendzin convinces that this is not the limit yet. «I don't believe in budgeted inflation of 6.2%. I think it will be higher,” he comments.
But more everything that worries Ukrainians now — how often will sellers in stores redraw labels? Won't the numbers that will appear scare? To calm the population, the government is trying to curb inflation by administrative methods. Kthe administration has compiled a list of 35 most important products for which the maximum level of trade margin should not exceed 10 percent.
But such attempts have already been made more than once, and they always ended in the same way — disappearance of controlled goods. And even more by the complaints of entrepreneurs about curtailing production. “The peculiarity of the Ukrainian cheaper food prices is that the state has shifted the entire burden onto the shoulders of business. Therefore, it was logical to introduce subsidies in various forms,” continues Pendzin.
Will the authorities act differently now? The state promises to take the most vulnerable layers under its «wing» by introducing grocery cards for food. And he immediately warns that this system will have nothing to do with coupons.
