The state prosecution requested three years in a colony-settlement for Kaluga resident Alexei Lukyanov, who is accused of using violence against a security official (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code). He himself told the Radio Liberty.
According to investigators, on January 23, 2021, during a rally in support of Alexei Navalny, Lukyanov, trying to free one of the participants in the rally, hit R.A. p>Lukyanov said that on the day of the rally he went to the central post office, where he saw a crowd of people and stopped «to see what was happening.» Then the Kaluga resident heard cries for help, two men in civilian clothes were pulling a young man in a balaclava, then Lukyanov pulled the young man out and went on.
“At that moment, I was hit on the back of the head with the mouthpiece of a police megaphone, I fell on the ice and hit hard,” recalled Lukyanov. He also added that after another 150 meters Shcherbakov approached him, wearing a cap, a black jacket and a purse, and pressed the Kaluga resident to the building. The protesters began to throw snowballs at them, shouting “Let go”, then the head of Center “E” twisted Lukyanov’s hand, and policeman Yakushev hit the detainee on the back of the head.
“None of the [recordings] has footage of me hitting someone. Shcherbakov claimed at the confrontation that I hit him twice from the back, and then went around and hit him on the hands. So, on the video of the City Government, it is clear that I was not behind the back of the security officer and was not even there for a single second, ”Lukyanov noted. In addition, the young man in the balaclava did not mention in his testimony that the Kaluga resident beat the policemen.
According to Shcherbakov, at first Lukyanov hit him on the hands freeing the protester, and when the security officer tried to detain the man, he pushed him away and said that he was walking. After that, the rally participants began to throw snowballs at them. According to the conclusion of the doctors, the consequences of the «traumatic impact» on Shcherbakov are characterized as «not entailing a short-term disorder of health and did not cause harm to health,» Radio Liberty reports.
After the rally, Lukyanov was detained and arrested on an administrative case at 11 days. Later, he was charged under article 318 of the Criminal Code and sent to a pre-trial detention center, where he spent three months. According to the accused, he was put in a cell with smokers, although he has a chronic lung disease. On January 13, Lukyanov was released on bail.
