Race also depends on race, scientists believe.
С From 1999 to 2018, the incidence of breast cancer has decreased. But it has grown significantly among women aged 20 to 39 years considering race and ethnicity. To do this, we used data from US cancer statistics for 1999 — 2018.
Positive points of the analysis:
- Researchers observed an overall average decrease in the incidence of breast cancer glands among women by 0.3% annually, with a decrease of 2.1% per year from 1999 to 2004 and an increase of 0.3% percent per year between 2004 and 2018.
- Among white non-Hispanic women, all women aged 50-64 and 75 years of age, there was a decrease in the incidence.
But there is one thing: the incidence began to increase in other groups
Researchers found that the incidence of breast cancer increased in women between 20 and 39 years of age. Based on race and ethnicity, non-Hispanic Asian and Pacific Islander women have become more likely to have breast cancer.
«In this report, breast cancer incidence trends vary by demographic characteristics. This suggests that breast cancer prevention and control programs should be tailored to the incidence at the state or county level and help prevent health disparities,»
, the authors write.
Analysis suggests that women aged 20 to 49 should get more screenings and discuss their risk of breast cancer with their doctor.
