Keita, who would have turned 77 on January 29, was the country's president from 2013 to 2020. «President Ibrahim Bubacar Keita died this morning at 9.00 (12.00 Moscow time) at his home in Bamako,» Keita's family member told the agency. It is noted that this information was confirmed by several other members of the ex-president's family. The causes of death have not yet been named. The rebellion in Mali began on August 18, 2020 at a military base near the capital Bamako. The rebels announced the arrest of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and Prime Minister Boubou Cisse. Later, the president announced the resignation and dissolution of parliament and government.
