File photoVILNIUS, Jan 17 Due to the increase in the incidence of coronavirus, Lithuanians have been obliged to attend indoor events in FFP2 respirators that completely cover the nose and mouth since Monday, Sputnik Lithuania reports, citing the Ministry of Health.» In Lithuania, from Monday, all spectators and attendees of events older than six years old, as well as all participants must wear FFP2 respirators indoors, completely covering the nose and mouth,» writes Sputnik. As the agency adds, people who, for health reasons, cannot wear a respirator or cases where wearing it may cause harm to health are exempted from this requirement. In this case, it is recommended to wear a face shield. The publication notes that a sharp increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 is noticeable in the country after the winter holidays. Experts attribute this to the rapid spread of the omicron strain. «The organizers must ensure control of the use of respirators throughout the closed space of the event and not serve people who do not wear this protective equipment. It is also recommended to distribute respirators at the venue of the event, remind about maintaining a safe distance, the need disinfect hands and prohibit eating and drinking in the hall prior to the event. In addition, upon entering the facility, the event organizer must provide information (at least in a conspicuous place on an A4 sheet) to spectators or participants that it is necessary to wear a respirator during the event if the event is held indoors,» adds Sputnik.
