The Dzerzhinsky District Court of St. Petersburg released model Lilia Sudakova from house arrest, accused of murdering her husband (Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by the joint press service of the city courts.
Sudakova was assigned a ban on certain actions. She cannot communicate with witnesses and victims and use the mail. The measure of restraint was softened, because the prosecutor's office had already referred the criminal case to court. In addition, the accused was in a pre-trial detention center and under house arrest for a long time and did not violate the conditions of detention.
Sudakova was detained in St. Petersburg in November 2020. The girl hit her husband with a knife, he soon died in the hospital. Sudakova's defense insisted that it was self-defense, as the man «behaved inappropriately and threatened her.» The model was accused of causing grievous bodily harm resulting in death (Part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code). Later, the charge was toughened and the model was charged with an article about the murder.
The judge decided to release the St. Petersburg model from the pre-trial detention center. But then he referred to a «technical error»
The girl was sent to a pre-trial detention center. On February 26, 2021, the judge mistakenly extended the preventive measure by only two days, and then issued a new arrest warrant without notifying the accused and her lawyer. On October 28, 2021, Sudakova was nevertheless released under house arrest.
