Despite the pandemic, since 2010, the price tag for housing in the EU has increased by 39%. At the same time, the cost of renting apartments increased by 16%, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to Channel 24.
These data were published by Eurostat. At the same time, experts note that the cost of housing in the EU is constantly fluctuating.
How housing prices have changed in EU countries
According to Eurostat, rents have increased slowly and evenly since 2010. At the same time, purchase prices have fluctuated, and in recent years, the market has seen a rapid rise in prices.
In the third quarter of 2021, rent from the EU increased by 1.2% compared to the same period last year, and the purchase – by 9.2%. In general, over 11 years, rental housing prices have increased by 16%, while the purchase of housing has risen in price by 39%.
Where is the most expensive
Most housing prices rose in:
- Estonia (+141%),
- Hungary (+118%),
- Luxembourg (+117%),
- Latvia (+106%)
- Austria (+104%).
The most expensive housing rent was recorded in:
- Estonia (+162%),
- Lithuania (+111%),
- Ireland (+68%).
