The quarantine period for COVID-19 cases in Russia will be reduced to seven days, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said. «We are optimizing approaches to quarantine and laboratory testing of citizens, including reducing the quarantine period to 7 days, and a number of changes that will be adopted in the near future by resolutions of the chief sanitary doctor of Russia,» Golikova said at a meeting of the coordinating council under the government of the Russian Federation to combat coronavirus.

    She added that the authorities would monitor the situation and, if necessary, further adjustment of the timing, this will be implemented. Vaccination remains the most reliable way to protect against coronavirus. According to the head of the Russian Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko, the proportion of seriously ill patients with COVID-19 is less than 0.03 percent, while the vast majority of patients in hospitals are unvaccinated. To date, 76,520,849 Russians have been fully vaccinated with two doses. The herd immunity level is 63.7 percent. As Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova previously stated, in order to cope with the pandemic, the country needs to achieve herd immunity of 80 percent or higher.
