
MOSCOW, Jan 20 Russian biathlete Anton Babikov became the winner of the individual race in the seventh stage of the World Cup in Antholz, Italy. The athlete worked without a miss on all four firing lines. He covered the distance of 20 kilometers in 49 minutes 46.8 seconds. The second place was taken by the Norwegian Tarjei Be (two misses; backlog — 9.7 seconds), the third was another Russian — Karim Khalili (one miss; +48.5), for which is the first personal podium in his career in the World Cup. This victory was the second for Babikov at the World Cup, before that he won in the 2016/17 season in the pursuit race in Ostersund, Sweden. In total, this is the third podium of the Russian in his career.
Babikov is included in the Russian team for the Olympic Games in Beijing as a substitute.
