U.S. guarantees will suit Russia.
An alternative to the so-called &# 171;security guarantees» for Russia in terms of non-expansion of NATO, a legal obligation of the United States not to vote for Ukraine's accession may become. The Russian side is ready to consider such an option, reports Khronika.info with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
As Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said, the West should abandon the results of the Bucharest summit in 2008, when Ukraine and Georgia was promised accession to NATO.
«This should be ruled out, this should be replaced by the understanding that this will never happen. Or alternatively, if the US makes a unilateral legally binding commitment that it will never vote for Ukraine and other countries to join NATO, we are ready to consider this option»,— Ryabkov noted.
Note that earlier Ryabkov said that Russia does not intend to attack Ukraine and there is no risk of a new war in Europe.
Recall that last week NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed that Ukraine and Georgia will become NATO members, but there are no exact dates yet.
