MOSCOW, Jan 20 Law on indexation of pensions in Russia by 8.6% from 1 January 2022, which will be considered at the plenary session on Thursday, will be adopted immediately in the second and in the final third reading if the deputies are supported, said State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin. Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Cabinet to decide in the near future on indexation of pensions by 8, 6%. The Government of the Russian Federation submitted a corresponding proposal in the form of amendments to the draft law on social pensions for representatives of the indigenous peoples of the North, which passed the first reading. As First Vice Speaker of the State Duma Alexander Zhukov noted earlier, after indexing, the average old-age insurance pension this year will be 18,984 rubles. «If the deputies support the law, it will be adopted immediately in the second reading and in the final third,» Volodin wrote in his Telegram channel. The parliamentarian noted that the norm will have retroactive effect and will work from January 1, 2022, according to him, there are necessary funds in the budget. «Everything must be done to fulfill social obligations to people. This decision is designed to protect our citizens in conditions of increased inflation: to compensate pensioners for the additional costs that have arisen due to rising prices,» he added.
