European The Union sees no reason to evacuate the families of its diplomats from Ukraine. Negotiations with the Russian Federation are ongoing.
This was stated by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
On January 24, the EU will hear US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on the situation around Ukraine. Borrell stressed that the European Union does not yet see any reason to evacuate the families of its diplomats, and therefore awaits an explanation from the United States regarding their decision.
«We are not going to do the same as the United States (to evacuate diplomats , — ed.), because we do not see any specific reason for this», — Borrell said.
Recall, The State Department instructed to begin today the evacuation of relatives of the US Embassy in Ukraine.
Note, the State Department explained the evacuation of the families of diplomats from Kiev. This is called precautionary measures that must be taken for the safety of US citizens and government personnel.
The US Embassy in Kiev continues to work, and Chargé d'Affaires Christina Quinn remains in Ukraine.
