MOSCOW, 25 Jan. Health problems after a coronavirus infection are associated with a delay in the process, symptoms that do not disappear for a long time, as well as the development of a number of autoimmune pathologies after the illness in people who could be predisposed to them, the head of the agency told Prime Department of Faculty Therapy of St. Petersburg State University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Alexander Shishkin. He clarified that post-COVID syndrome occurs in 30-80 percent of those who have been ill, regardless of the severity of the disease. “It is clear that the disease itself is still an autoimmune process and immunothrombosis, so many complications arise in this area. Among them, there are very serious ones — myocarditis, myalgia, vascular disorders, rheumatoid arthritis (joint damage), bronchial asthma,” said Shishkin. 
A symptom found in 73% of those infected with «omicron» has been named. The period during which complications are observed is a year or even more. At the same time, people with autoimmune diseases may not have serious complications from covid, since they are protected by the anti-inflammatory therapy they take.
