As the authors of the project note, the enemy can use sabotage and reconnaissance groups, including combat swimmers, to mine ships, surface ships and submarines of the Russian Navy. For the same purposes, specially trained animals can be used — dolphins, sea lions, seals, and so on. To combat saboteurs, it is proposed to create a security system that includes systems for monitoring, recognition and non-lethal impact on detected violators. «In the recognition and impact subsystem as means of destruction today, priority should be given to non-lethal hydroacoustic weapons,» the authors point out. «It is important to note that the effect of acoustic radiation in the aquatic environment can be characterized by the appearance of not only specific auditory sensations in the form of pain in a bioobject, but also the appearance of a feeling fear, anxiety, weakness, unreasonable discomfort and depression,” military scientists explain. System monitoring should ensure the detection and determination of the coordinates of a potential threat object both at a distance of several kilometers some tens to hundreds of meters. It is the near zone of monitoring that is most relevant for influencing biological objects-violators, the article specifies. According to the authors, the use of hydroacoustic means to combat underwater saboteurs will minimize damage to both violators and the biosphere, and avoid environmental and other negative consequences.
