EU changes entry rules for tourists

The recommendation to member countries will come into force on February 1, 2022.

< p> The EU introduces new rules for tourists during the COVID-19 pandemic. The rights of travelers will depend on their individual health status, and not on where they live, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

According to the new recommendation, measures to combat COVID- 19 should be applied based on the status of the individual and not the situation at the regional level, except in areas where the virus is circulating at very high levels.

«This means that the vaccination, testing or recovery status of the traveler from COVID-19 verified with a valid EU COVID digital certificate should be a key determinant», — said in a press release from the Council of the EU.

A new approach will be taken to the movement of people within the EU and to the travel of citizens outside and back.

Recommendation to member countries will come into force on February 1, 2022, the same day as the by-law amending the COVID-19 digital certificates regulation.

Persons who do not have an EU COVID-19 digital certificate, may be required to take a test prior to arrival or no later than 24 hours after arrival.
