The Interior Ministry added the former head of Navalny's Moscow headquarters, Oleg Stepanov, to the federal wanted list.

In August 2021, Stepanov was sentenced to a year of restriction of freedom on a “sanitary case” due to posts about a January rally in support of Navalny. He was forbidden to leave Moscow, leave the house at night and participate in mass actions. Prior to this, the oppositionist had been under house arrest for more than six months.

Earlier, other associates of Alexei Navalny were put on the wanted list — his brother Oleg, Leonid Volkov, Ivan Zhdanov, Lyubov Sobol, coordinators of the headquarters in Murmansk and Kurgan Violetta Grudin and Alexei Schwartz, as well as three activists of the Saratov headquarters who left the country after the initiation of the «sanitary case».
In June 2021, the Moscow City Court, at the suit of the prosecutor's office, recognized web Navalny's headquartersan extremist organization and banned their work in Russia.
