Until then, the speaker of parliament will act as head of state. The president of the republic is elected by the parliament for a seven-year term. The same person can be elected president only once. At least one quarter of the total number of deputies has the right to nominate a candidate. According to the constitution, the President submits his resignation to the National Assembly. The resignation is considered accepted from the moment of its promulgation in the manner prescribed by law.
