In the EU recorded a record inflation

Prices are skyrocketing.

Eurozone annual inflation following the first months of 2022, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to 5.1%. This is the highest figure in the entire history of observations, according to data from the Statistical Office of the European Union, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to Today.

Consumer prices rose due to energy prices (+28.6% against growth of 25.9% in December). The rise in prices for food, alcohol and tobacco products amounted to 3.6% (3.2% in December), services rose in price by 2.4%, and non-primary industrial goods became more expensive by 2.3% (2.9% in December). ).

The highest annual inflation was recorded in the following EU countries:

  • Lithuania — 12.2%;
  • Estonia — 11.7%;
  • Slovakia and Belgium — 8.5%.

At the same time, consumer price growth was hardly noticeable in such states as:

  • Malta — 3.8%;
  • Finland and Portugal — 3.4%;
  • France — 3.3%.

What in Ukraine?

Our country also faced inflationary dangers due to the rise in energy prices. So, Ukraine ended 2021 with inflation of 10%, although only 7.3% was claimed in the macro forecast.

Most of all rose in price:

  • sunflower oil — 38.8% ;
  • sugar — 28.3%;
  • eggs — 19%;
  • bread — 18.7%.

< p> Cheaper for Ukrainians only one category of products — fruits. The price fell by 10.2%.
