The archive of personal belongings and manuscripts of Eduard Limonov was sold for 10 million rubles at an auction in Moscow

An archive of personal belongings and unpublished manuscripts by Eduard Limonov was sold for more than 10 million rubles at the Litfond auction house in Moscow. Information about this is provided on the website of the auction house.

“The results exceeded all expectations. During the auction, 95% of the lots were sold, and the sales results exceeded the estimate by about seven times,” Sergey Burmistrov, general director of the Literary Fund, told TASS.

On the eve of the auction, the starting price of the lots in total was about 1.5 million rubles. Manuscripts, letters, autographs, photographs and memorial items associated with the name of Limonov were put up for auction — more than 100 lots in total. A significant part of the presented items came from the archives of the artist Vagrich Bakhchanyan, the model and writer Elena Shchapova (Limonov's second wife), the publisher Alla Zaitseva and the artist Igor Andreev.

The auction participants were most interested in two handwritten collections of Limonov, written in In the 1970s, they were sold in total for 1.7 million rubles. The second most popular lot was 13 color photographs of Limonov taken in the USA — their final price was 550 thousand rubles.
