The Investigative Committee began checking «International Memorial» on the article on the rehabilitation of Nazism, RBC reports, citing a source in law enforcement agencies and a source familiar with the audit materials.
The materials of the check were registered in the investigative department of the Tverskoy district of Moscow on February 2, the publication clarifies.
International Memorial Board Chairman Yan Rachinsky said that he had been summoned to the Investigative Committee.

On December 27, even before the decision to liquidate the International Memorial, the Veterans of Russia movement turned to the Prosecutor General and the head of the Investigative Committee because of the list of the repressed, which included the names of people who collaborated with Nazis. The prosecutor's office referred to this appeal in court.

The Supreme Court of Russia liquidated the «International Memorial» on December 28 at the request of the prosecutor's office, which spoke of systematic violations of the law on «foreign agents».
