
Beijing, Feb 6 Russian skier Alexander Bolshunov damaged his podium during the awards ceremony at the Winter Olympics in Beijing. On Sunday, Bolshunov won the skiathlon and brought the Russian team the first gold medal at the Olympics. The second place was taken by another representative of Russia — Denis Spitsov. During the awards ceremony, Bolshunov jumped onto the podium, after which a banner with the symbols of the Olympic Games came off the podium. The Russian skier tried to lift it, but he failed. Then Bolshunov received a gift from the organizers of the Games. Bolshunov is 25 years old, he won the first Olympic gold medal. At the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Bolshunov became a three-time silver medalist and won one bronze medal.
